We want to thank everyone who was able to show up tonight for their time and patience. We were all truly inspired by the feeling of unity and cooperation. This was by far the best turnout of people that we've ever had at our meeting, and by far the most productive, which tells us that we have started in the right direction. Thank you all!!

A brief synopsis of what was covered tonight follows. Approximately 20 people were in attendance and the ideas were flowing.

  1. Our first order of business was to go over the new group organization. From now on all events will be discussed as a group and agreed in the same manner. All opinions will be heard and discussed.
  2. We have reconsidered the idea of setting up Voter Registration Drives at one park each day for the next three weeks, primarily due to the fact that we were given incorrect information. In speaking with the parks department today, they told me that we are not permitted to use the parks as a staging ground for Voter Drives while we are representing a campaign. We came to the conclusion that targeting specific places would be a better idea.
  3. Will do a Voter Registration Drive this Saturday at the Tri State Fair. We have a group of people that will be meeting at the fair to do voter registration (see below to volunteer).
  4. Working to setup Voter Registration Drives at United Supermarkets, details as they become available.
  5. Will check with Amarillo ISD to see if we can do Voter Registration Drives on Monday, September 22, for the Back to School Night at Amarillo area high schools, details as they become available.
  6. Coordinating with Jim Otto, Amarillo Area Democratic HQ, to setup phone banking.

For the Voter Registration Drive at the Tri State Fair, Saturday, September 20:

If you are a Deputy Registrar for Potter and/or Randall County and want to volunteer, or anyone else who wants to volunteer, please email Tony and Jane Raphael at Amarillo4Obama@gmail.com. We are looking to do the drive from 10 am to 4 pm, as close to several fair entrances as possible. Please email us your name, email address, contact phone number, and the time you could volunteer. Anytime is appreciated, even 30 minutes will help. Once we have a list of volunteers, we will send info later in the week.

If you have a distribution list (Laurie, Brandon, Lisa, Amarillo Area Dem HQ) that you email to in the Amarillo area for political purposes, please forward this to your groups. All for Obama are welcome to join with us for the Voter Drive on 9/20.

If you've received this email and do not wish to be on our distribution list, please email us at Amarillo4Obama@gmail.com to be promptly removed.

Thanks for all the support and goodwill,

Tony and Jane Raphael
